Mad Men spoilers ahead

  • Spoilers! You have been warned...
  • I caught a glimpse of a post by Michael Markman re the latest episode of Mad Men, which I had not yet watched. I saw one word in that mini-review and then turned my eyes away. The word was "devastated." I had seen a tweet earlier with a mini-spoiler that said it kept the watcher up all night without sleep. So I was expecting something pretty horrific.
  • There was one scene early on where Don was pressing against a window in his new office as if to test it, to see if it would give. Then in the meeting, just before he got up to leave, he was staring out the window at an airplane over the Empire State Building. How foreboding is that, given the opening animation of the show.
  • I watched the whole episode dreading something truly awesomely horrible. I think devastated was a bit over the top, but to each his own. I loved the scene with Roger playing the organ with drunk Peggy on roller skates, and her walking into the office with a cigarette dangling from her mouth and Bert's pornography under her arm. And then of course Bert's ghost.
  • Another great Mad Men episode.
  • PS: The Vox reviewer thinks the picture of the airplane over the Empire State Building summarizes the whole show. I think the jury is still out on that. We have to see how the series ends.
